Can I pay my traffic ticket online?

On Behalf of | Nov 11, 2020 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Getting a traffic ticket is often frustrating because you either have to go to court or figure out how to pay the fine. If you are busy like most people, finding the time to run to the court and pay the fine can be just as difficult as taking time off to go to court.

If you have made the decision to just pay the fine, the New Jersey Courts explain that you can do it online, which will take a lot of the hassle out of it.

Online system

The online system is NJMCdirect. It provides a fast and secure way to pay for your ticket. You can also view the ticket in the system, which helps to ensure you pay the correct fine and that you pay your ticket on time.

You must know your ticket number so that you can search in the system to find it. If you do not know the number, you will have to find it through a search on the Municipal Court Case Search website. You can also contact the municipal court by phone or in person.

Paying the ticket

When paying a ticket, you will have to pay an additional 3% fee for the online service. You must pay it on time even through the online system. The online system accepts payments at set hours. It does accept payments every day of the week. Monday through Thursday, the hours are 4:30 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. Fridays the hours are 4:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. Weekend hours include Saturday from 4:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

Do note that if you try to access the system outside of the operating hours, it will not work or allow you to pay. Make note of the date on your ticket so that you can ensure you pay on time.
